TIPS TO HELP YOU STAY INSPIRED! –RECYCLED from a beautiful messy designer that I have come to adore. These tips really hit home for me because I myself use these same tips to revive my artsy soul! I personalized on my own behalf. ENJ:0y
1.       Carry A Journal.
YES, I love to journal (when I can find the time) but I mostly love to doodle and jot down super quick notes/thoughts
2.       Find A New Muse.
I love this tip! Music-Old Hollywood stars-Shoes-Colors-Friends-Fabric…I am inspired by so many things and people. Obsessions lead to wonderful creations.
3.       Develop A Creative Playlist.
I could never function artistically without my music!
4.       Refresh Your Workspace.
Re-org’ing my workspace is a MUST before I work on a piece. My husband will beg to differ.  =o/
5.       Prove Yourself Wrong!
You ever use that handy little “refresher” button while using the internet? This tip right here is my refresher button.  I go through these short lived fazes of feeling blah and challenged. Once I prove myself wrong, BOOM! –Well, well, well HELLO MOJO
One of my biggest inspirations is my daughter and her fun fashion sense.

Angie Wedding Project 1 - Step by Step

-Bumblebee Yellow and Black-
6 Bridesmaids, 1 Maid of Honor, 1 Matron of Honor, 2 Jr Bridesmaids and Bride

1.       Preparation- edge burning and sewing the fancy flowers
2.       Adding the tulle netting to the flowers

3.       Adding on the feathers

4.       Sewing on the center pieces
5.       Cutting the felt for each piece- into my signature heart shapes because I think they look cuter that way

6.       Adding the clips to the felt *some sewn and some glued
7.       Tags Tags Tags – I personalize each tag for the new owner of each piece

8.       Cutting of the ribbon- for me, this is like a ribbon cutting ceremony because it declares the piece completed and ready for its new home
9.       Tying the ribbon and tags to each piece

10.   Photo Shoot time! I take pictures of each piece and then package them up for delivery/pick up

11.   Now they are ready for their debut down the wedding aisle!

 SWEET FANCY FACES

Jai, Ape and I finally completed our very first  “Sweet Fancy Faces” session. Months of researching and inspirational soul searching went into this project. I spent a lot of my crafting hours entertained by The Weeknd, Adele, Drake, XX etc playing on iTunes. The outcome = Mini Top Hats, Butterfly Clips, Tulle fascinators, Fancy Belt accessories, Vintage Buttons, Feathers, Cream Lace etc. The session was hard work but def a success and worth the sweat!

The day was definitely filled with summer heat and lot of laughter

Sunday Funday Fancy Rings and PaperDollys

I have been very busy this weekend with the Fancy business. However, I did find a little extra ME time to squeeze into the hectic weekend. While searching for some much needed supplies for my first "Fancy" wedding project, I came across some Rings by "Bead Landing"- Bezels, Frames & Filigree. You can decorate them yourself! They are adjustable and come in Antique Copper, Silver and Gold. I grabbed a bag and made me some Fancy Rings for my Hollywood Honeymoon Trip. This will be 9 years for the Mr. and Mrs.

Check out the Heart Ring I made! It is going to match the "Mi Amour" clutch that my girlfriend from POLY STITCH is making me. These two are a match made in Heaven- just like me and my husband....

~May they fill the air with a million hearts and love~

"The Mi Amour" Clutch by: Poly Stitch

I also made some Rosette Rings in Black, Red and White. I think I will have to wear all three on one hand! That will add some fun to my outfit.

The Rosettes
Here is a picture of all of the rings!

And.... here is a picture of some very CUTE paper dolls made by my Buggy Girl. She put some major holes in my pockets while shopping at Michael's! She is crafty girl just like Mama.

Fancy Brooch Bouquet

I am obsessing...

Yesterday evening I came down with a fever. Not a sick fever but a "craft" fever. =) I cannot get over this cute wedding spread that I came across in the current issue of US Weekly. It is the Lambert-Shelton wedding. I am not sure who these two are but I am sure diggin’ their wedding choices. The bridesmaids were all in cute knee/calf length dresses and brown cowgirl boots. The bride designed the dresses to match each of their personalities. Their necks were adorned with super fancy necklaces. YES- very country and freakin’ spectacular!! I especially can’t get over the bride’s brooch bouquet. Oh and she also had on some Fancy Hair Candy!! No, i wasn't lucky enough to be the maker of that hair candy, but it was cute!

This mag came to me in good timing because my 10 year wedding anni is coming up and I really want to put together a special, but fun vow renewal. Nothing huge- but something that I can remember forever.

Below is a link to a DIY brooch bouquet. You bet your butt I am going to make my own!!

check out them cowgirl boots!

How Did You Start Up Fancy Hair Candy?

Q&A for those of you who care to wonder:
.Q. Where did the name Skylar Aleksandr come from?
.A. I named my line after my 2 beautiful children, in which I combined their middle names Skylar and Aleksandr. I love the combination. If I was a princess, I would love for my name to be Skylar Aleksandr. I wanted to pay tribute to my 2 angels and also wanted to leave the name open in case I ever wanted to dip into other accessory lines. Fancy Hair Candy is one of the many that I plan to operate.
.Q. How did Skylar Aleksandr/Fancy Hair Candy get started?
.A. My daughter is the reason Fancy Hair Candy is alive. One day while watching Disney Channel, she says to me, “Mommy, can you buy me a headband like that?!” I replied, “Buy it? Mommy can make it!!” And of course her reply back to me was, “You always have to make stuff, why can’t you just buy it?” HILARIOUS. Let me rewind a little bit- I am crafty, artsy and determined. If I see something cute and crafty, you better believe that I will make it and with tons of love, too! So fast forward- I made her a ton of flowery, feathery, shimmery headbands and she was a happy girl!

After a couple of fundraisers and a Holiday Boutique Show, I was off to a Fancy start.
This isn't the End of the story- it is just the beginning....  stay tuned!
